Research and Technical Experience
Dr. Wellela D. Hirpassa has research and technical experience in lead contamination, drinking water assessment, water quality, soil contamination, dust exposure, environmental health, watershed protection, green infrastructure, and community-based environmental education.
Her work includes research related to lead in drinking water, lead in soil, and lead in dust exposure. She contributed to published research on lead in inner-city soil and its possible contribution to children’s blood lead. Her experience also includes drinking water assessment, water quality testing, environmental sampling, data analysis, and public education related to water quality and contamination prevention.
Dr. Hirpassa’s published research also includes plant growth and metal uptake studies using biosolids and gypsum, including edible crops such as edamame and lettuce. This work was published in Communications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis with co-author Eton E. Codling. Dr. Hirpassa also contributed to drinking water education and curriculum development, including “Dive into Drinking Water,” developed with university partners to support public education on drinking water sources, water quality, contamination prevention, water treatment, and community water stewardship.

The company is led by Dr. Wellela D. Hirpassa, an environmental scientist and educator with more than 25 years of experience in water quality, environmental research, watershed protection, green infrastructure, lead awareness, environmental education, and community-based environmental programs.
